Sections
Scouts is a worldwide movement open to anyone aged 6 – 25. Split up into five sections; Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Network, Scouts has a place for everyone. Scouting in the UK has no barriers of entry for young people. Everyone is welcome to join regardless of background, religion (or lack thereof) or nationality.
At the 8th we have a Beaver Colony, a Cub Pack and a Scout Troop. So if you’re aged between 6 – 14, then you can come along to our meetings and join in our everyday adventure!
We’re located at the Church of the Holy Spirit on Fawcett Road in Southsea.
Your child can still join Scouting!
Portsmouth is home to 20 Scout groups distributed across the city.
Please go to the City of Portsmouth Scouts website to enquire for spaces at other groups in the City.
What about Explorers?
If you’re interested in Explorer Scouts (14-18) then please see the Portsmouth Scout website for more information on Scouting in Portsmouth. Portsmouth has several Explorer Scout Units including a Young Leaders unit if you’re interested in helping out at younger sections like Beavers or Cubs. The 8th Portsmouth at this time does not operate its own Explorer Unit, but there are so many more in the city!
Even if you’re 18 or older, you can still get involved in Scouting. Contact any of our Leaders if you might be interested in taking on a role as an Occasional Helper or even a fully uniformed Leader. Check out The Scout Association website for more information on Scouting in the UK and information on becoming a volunteer in the movement. The Scout Association provides a comprehensive and flexible training scheme for all adult volunteers ranging from the Assistant Leader to the County Commissioner.
